JOHANNESBURG, June 28 (Xinhua) -- The upcoming BRICS summit will give South Africa and Africa an opportunity to learn best practices in entrepreneurship and innovation from the BRICS countries, a government official said on Thursday.
Guateng Premier David Makhura said this while addressing the closing session of the BRICS Young Diplomats Forum in Johannesburg.
"We are honored to host such an event. Events like these provide an opportunity for our entrepreneurs to interact with entrepreneurs from the BRICS countries. We will ensure that we have parallel sessions where they can get exposure from the business community from the BRICS countries," said Makhura.
Makhura said Africa should leverage on South Africa's BRICS membership for its advantage, adding that BRICS members are key drivers of technological change.
Makhura said Africa have to prepare for 4th industrial revolution to enjoy its benefits. In his opinion, the revolution will affect the politics, economy, diplomacy and all facets of the people's lives.
South Africa will host the 10th BRICS summit at the end of next month in Johannesburg.
