HARBIN, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Wearing hats and knit scarves, 2,018 snowmen of various sizes debuted Monday at a theme park in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.
Around 200 sculptors made the snowmen, with the tallest standing 20 meters and the shortest measuring only 0.5 meter, according to Hou Yingli, who is in charge of the project.
Hou added that the sculptors used around 30,000 cubic meters of snow to create snow sculptures of various shapes, such as the 12 Chinese zodiac animals.
The snowmen have attracted lots of tourists to take photos with them. "I feel that I'm in a 'kingdom of snowmen.' It's amazing," said tourist Wang Dong.
Harbin has become known for its ice and snow activities, as well as its Russian-style buildings. An international ice and snow festival is held in the city every winter.
