SARAJEVO, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Federal Institute for Hydrometeorology (FHMZ) on Sunday issued a yellow alert for the whole area of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on new snowfalls and low temperatures.
According to the alert issued on the agency's website on Sunday, the country will see cold weather with minimum temperatures ranging between minus 10 degrees Celsius up to minus 7 degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperature, minus 16 degrees, was recorded on Sunday in the Bjelasnica Mountain, some 35 km southwest of BiH's capital Sarajevo. The highest snow cover is also recorded on Bjelasnica, 183 cm, according to FHMZ.
Due to the bad weather, transport of trailer vehicles on the mountainous roads has been prohibited, effective until the conditions for safe traffic are made, according to officials. Drivers are advised to drive with maximum caution and not go on journey without the winter equipment, which is legally required for all categories of vehicles.
