ZAGREB, June 13 (Xinhua) -- Police in southern Croatia have seized nearly half ton of marijuana hidden in a truck transporting watermelons from Montenegro to Austria, it was announced on Wednesday.
The biggest seizure in the history of Spit-Dalmatia County happened at the Croatian-Bosnian border near the city of Imotski. According to the police, there were 422.3 kilos of marijuana in 397 packs hidden under watermelons.
The seizure is estimated to worth up to one million euros on the Croatian market. Its price on the European market could be two to three times higher.
A 53-year-old driver from Montenegro was arrested, but since it is evident that he is not the organizer, the criminal investigation continues, according to the police.
