ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, the United States, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The Bard Youth Chinese Orchestra, featuring talented young performers of traditional Chinese instruments, made their debut with a concert Friday at Bard College, about 150 km north of New York City.
The concert, conducted by Jindong Cai, included a wide range of works, both classical and modern. It was presented by the U.S.-China Music Institute of the Bard College Conservatory of Music, in partnership with China's Central Conservatory of Music.
The concert featured more than 50 musicians, aged 13-22, who are attending a two-week summer academy on the Bard campus. The academy combines intensive training in traditional Chinese instruments, English language instruction, and an American cultural experience.
The young musicians will continue their U.S. campus show Saturday at Harvard University.
