KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Kuwaiti emir's upcoming visit to Washington reflects strong and sustainable partnership between the two countries, U.S. Ambassador to Kuwait Lawrence Silverman said on Saturday.
The Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will pay a visit to the United States and meet with U.S. President Donald Trump on Sept. 5, the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) said.
The "visit would be an opportunity to exchange views over pressing regional challenges and to build on dialogue between two leaders," said Silverman quoted by the KUNA.
The United States is committed to Kuwait's security, and the two countries have held joint military exercises and exchanged information to prevent terrorist acts, Silverman said.
He hoped the visit would touch upon issues of Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Iran.
