TOKYO, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened sharply lower in early deals in Tokyo on Tuesday following an overnight rout on Wall Street.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average tumbled 683.99 points, or 3.07 percent, from Monday to 21,585.89.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 47.67 points, or 2.85 percent, at 1,624.28.
Insurance, electric appliance, and machinery-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes from the morning bell.
