BEIRUT, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon signed on Thursday a cooperation agreement with Turkey for the expansion of Qlayaat Airport in Tripoli.
"We are ready to cooperate with Head of Tripoli's Chamber Toufic Dabbousi in preparation for the technical studies for the expansion of Qlayaat airport," Turkish Ambassador to Lebanon Hakan Cakil was quoted as saying by the National News Agency.
"I have already helped African countries in benefitting from Turkish expertise in the field of airports," added Cakil.
For his part, Toufic Dabbousi, head of Tripoli's Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, said that he welcomes Turkish study with regard to the expansion of Qlayaat airport and Port of Tripoli.
Dabbousi added that he hopes that this new agreement opens the door to further cooperation between Lebanon and Turkey on the level of private and public sectors.
