BEIRUT, April 3 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's state security arrested on Wednesday 8 Syrian nationals over illegal entry to Lebanon, the National News Agency reported.
The Syrian nationals were arrested in Morh Kfarsghab, a village located in the Zgharta District in the North Governorate of Lebanon, according to the report.
The arrested were transferred to the judicial bodies for further investigations.
There are many reasons that could drive Syrians to Lebanon, including seeking education and attending an interview by European embassies.
In 2015, however, the Lebanese government has barred the UN refugee agency from registering Syrian refugees or placed additional restrictions on their entry into the country without guarantors, work visas or visas for transit.
Such measures led to a rise in the number of Syrian refugees attempting to enter Lebanon illegally.
