NAIROBI, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Kenya will represent Africa at the World Rugby Under-20 tournament set for July 9-21 in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil.
Kenya's junior rugby union team, proved to be the strongest side in the four-nation Barthes Trophy Cup in Nairobi, as they edged out former champions Namibia 21-18.
In an earlier match, Senegal floored Tunisia 28-16. The results mean that Tunisia are relegated and will switch places with Pool B winners next year.
Head coach Paul Odera said they will build on their good performance ahead of their tour of Brazil.
"It has been a good campaign for the junior players. Winning at the Africa level is one hurdle cleared, but now the focus turns to putting on a strong show at the World Junior Trophy in July," said Odera on Monday in Nairobi.
"Our bench is really strong. This means that when we bring players on they are adding impact to the team, as opposed to reducing the energy and skill level. Those are the two things that gave us an opportunity to beat Namibia for the first time at this level," added the coach.
