ISLAMABAD, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Britain's Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton will visit Pakistan in autumn this year, local media reported on Sunday.
Local media quoting officials from Pakistan's High Commission in London said the royal couple, who are also called the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would have an official tour to Pakistan.
It will be the couple's first visit to Pakistan. The details of the tour will be announced later, the reports said.
On Sunday, Kensington Palace of Britain also announced on its social media account saying that Prince William and Kate Middleton "will undertake an official visit to Pakistan this autumn" on the request of Britain's Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Pakistan High Commissioner to Britain Mohammad Nafees Zakaria responded to the announcement and said the government and the people of Pakistan warmly welcome the royal visit to Pakistan.
The high commissioner said the people of Pakistan "still cherish and fondly recall" the visits by Queen Elizabeth II, adding that the two countries enjoy historical links which both sides wish to strengthen further.
The British queen visited Pakistan in 1961 and 1997.
