BEIJING, July 5 (Xinhua) -- The China National Symphony Orchestra performed at the National Center for the Performing Arts Friday, marking the start of this year's performing season by national art troupes.
During the season, 64 performances in 23 plays will be performed by national art troupes, including the National Theater of China, China National Opera House, the National Ballet of China and China National Symphony Orchestra.
The themes of plays to be staged will focus on commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, such as the drama "Piano Sound Lingering in the Town," and a children's musical "March in the Darkness."
Around 50 percent of the tickets cost less than 80 yuan (about 11.6 U.S. dollars) apiece.
More than 270 works have been staged in the national art troupes' performing season since 2010, when the event was launched.
