BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Brunei is sending 87 athletes to compete in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in the Philippines from November 30 to December 11 2019, local daily the Borneo Bulletin reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, several members of the Brunei Royal Families are in the Brunei contingent. Prince Abdul Mateen (the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah's son), Prince Jefri Bolkiah (the Sultan's brother) and Princess 'Azemah Nikmatul Bolkiah (the Sultan's daughter) will compete in the Polo event, while Princess Fadzilah Lubabul Bolkiah (the Sultan's daughter) will lead the netball team.
Brunei will participate in aquatics, athletics, billiards, golf, fencing, football, karate, lawn bowls, netball, pencak silat, polo, taekwondo, tenpin bowling and wushu.
The 30th SEA Games in the Philippines will stage 56 sports, the highest number in SEA Games history. Some 9,840 athletes from 11 countries are expected to participate in the biennial sports event.
The Brunei athletes will be accompanied by 45 coaches and technical officers, eight managers and 20 secretariat officers.
